Quote of the Day – 6/19/26 – Courage vs. Comfort

“You can choose courage or you can choose comfort, but you cannot choose both.”
Brene Brown

This seems to be theme lately – a totally unplanned theme.
So, in case you’re new or have never heard me explain: Every year when I get a new planner, I write a quote on each day of the year. They are totally random. I try not to use the same one twice a year, but I can’t promise it doesn’t happen. The “rule” is, it has to be short enough to fit. That’s it.

I love this and I hope I never stop doing it.
I love words.
I love learning from others.
I even like my handwriting 🙂

So, back to the point, On the 16th, the quote was about conviction vs convenience. Not the same as courage and comfort – but I will say it takes courage to live your convictions and most conveniences are pretty comfortable.

I was talking to one of my best friends today about finances and she made a statement that the way to get your finances in order, is to get uncomfortable. To eat beans & rice, cancel all the subscriptions, stop getting your hair done, etc. Then she laughed and said, “but I don’t want to. I don’t want to be uncomfortable.” And I have to agree – neither do I.

Being uncomfortable is scary. Will people judge me? reject me? Will I fail? What if I try and find out I don’t have what it takes?
…..What if, all those things I think about myself are true? What if I really do suck? or what if I really do have more in me and can be great?
I want to be courageous but I’m afraid. I’m afraid to be uncomfortable. I’m afraid of failing and I’m afraid of succeeding.
