Whew! I needed this one today. Yesterday was not a good day. I was ALL up in my feelings. I spiraled. Even when I saw the opportunity to get out of it, I just kept sinking. I wanted to sink. I wanted to fall apart. I ‘deserved’ to fall apart. I went to bed at 8:30.
Then, this morning, at 5:23, I woke up, brushed my teeth, put my workout clothes on, lifted and ran.
Because, the bad days come, The circumstances of life can at times be daunting, or just all around stinky. But no matter if the circumstances are good or bad, I still have to live with me. I still have to look in the mirror. I still have to choose who I will be and how I will show up.
I chose yesterday to jump into my pit and sit there. I whined, and cried and said it’s not fair. I allowed myself to believe that I’m entitled to easy, and comfortable and just more – more money, more free time, more family time, more community, more fun, more adventure. MORE, MORE, MORE.
But that is absolute hogwash. I’m not entitled to anything. And neither are you.
Getting what you want, whatever that is, requires a plan, hard work, dedication, learning from mistakes, and getting back up!!!
Sometimes, the spiral, the … disappointment, feels more comfortable than choosing to hope. And that sucks! Because, there is hope. There is a future. I truly believe that God cares for me. That He sees me. He takes care of the birds. He clothes the flowers of the field – and He will take care of me.
But, it’s not always on my time and it’s not always the way I want. Because it always requires something of me – effort, sacrifice, forgiveness, grace, trust, obedience. It requires me to try, and fail, to face it and get back up.
Yesterday was hard, but today I got up. It’s okay to fall, to be human, but we can’t stay there, we must get up.
Get up and go chase your dreams.
