FEAR has two meanings:
Forget Everything And Run,
or
Face Everything And Rise
You know what’s the same in each meaning? Everything.
No matter what, you are going to have to deal with the “everything.”
That could be the hard conversation, the possibility of rejection, telling someone you like them (or you don’t), the finances, the job market, whatever your ‘thing’ is – IT doesn’t go away.
Now, you can choose to run, to try to ignore it, to avoid it for as long as possible, but the thing usually doesn’t disappear. In my experience, it keeps coming back. Sometimes it shows up in the same way, and sometimes, it’s a pattern that reveals itself again. I know. I’ve had my share of ‘Forget Everything and Run’. Some things I’m still running from – and they’re still chasing, gathering speed and getting closer – because, let’s face it, the older I get, the harder it is to run. The older I get, the more baggage I seem to have, and the more things there are chasing me.
And I’m tired of it.
I don’t want to run from things anymore.
I want to run to things.
I want to run to adventure, friendship, healthy relationships, a vibrant relationship with God, silliness and new adventures.
I want to learn and grow and experience as much as I can and it’s just too difficult with all the baggage, all the fear and all the unhealed, unconfessed stuff!
So, it’s time to Face Everything and Rise.
Is it scary – yes!!
Is it hard – yes!!
Will it be worth it? – I believe wholeheartedly – YES!!
So, next time something comes up and you find yourself feeling fear, decide – are you going to Run? Or Rise?
I hope you RISE!!
